For over 150 years the Quarantine Station was for many, the beginning of a new life in Australia after making the arduous & lengthy journey from their homelands. Ships suspected of harbouring people infected with contagious disease were quarantined here so that these deadly diseases would not reach the general population in Sydney. The Wharf Precinct is the most significant place to understand the arrival and daily operations of residents at the Quarantine Station. On this 1 hour "Quarantine Wander Tour ", you'll explore the heritage buildings of the wharf & hospital precinct and discover the stories of what the former quarantined adults & children endured through the 19th and 20th centuries. Following the tour, you will enjoy lunch at the Q Station's cafe before taking in the incredible views from North Head & then returning to the Central Coast. Please note; attendees must be mobile and wear comfortable walking shoes as the tour includes a few stairs, inclines and declines.
