Thank you for your interest in the Light Rigid Heavy Vehicle Licence Course. This comprehensive training program is designed to provide individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain a Light Rigid licence endorsement on their existing licence, as required by the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) in New South Wales, Australia. With a Light Rigid licence, you will have the opportunity to drive a Light Rigid vehicle, opening up new possibilities for employment and personal ventures. The course will equip you with the knowledge of road rules and RMS requirements for driving to licence standards. You will receive expert training in crucial areas such as reversing, load security, driving skills, and the specific knowledge related to operating Light Rigid vehicles. Before attending the course, you will need to complete the drivers knowledge test for the Light Rigid licence and undergo an eyesight test at the RMS. Additionally, it is required that you purchase the Competency Based log book and the Heavy Vehicle Driver Handbook. These resources will serve as essential guides throughout the course and in your future driving endeavors. The training will be conducted by Central Coast Driver Training, a highly reputable and experienced provider, at their depot in Springfield, NSW. The course will run from 8:00am to approximately 4:00pm, ensuring you receive comprehensive training that covers all essential aspects needed for successful completion. To ensure a smooth and efficient learning experience, please remember to bring your current NSW driver's licence, Competency Based Log Book, and wear suitable clothing and footwear, preferably safety shoes or boots. These precautions will help ensure your safety while practicing and mastering the required skills. Throughout the course, assessments will be conducted to evaluate your progress and ensure that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to be deemed competent. Starting from September 1st, 2015, a split assessment system will be introduced where a different assessor will conduct the final assessment. The first assessor will issue you a Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion of the assessment criteria. This certificate will serve as evidence of your participation and progress in the training program. Course fees include 7 hours of training and assessment for criteria 1-15, with any additional time required incurring a cost of $110 per hour. Additionally, one attempt at the Final Competency Assessment is included in the course cost. However, please note that the fees do not cover the RMS knowledge test, log book, or licence transfer fees. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the RMS books and consider purchasing an in-cabin video camera, as per the requirements introduced by the RMS. The final competency assessment will be filmed for auditing purposes. Should you not be deemed competent during the assessment, you will have to re-book for further training or assessment at an additional cost. However, upon successful completion of the Final Competency Assessment, you will receive a Certificate of Competency, which can be submitted to the Roads and Maritime Services for the licence upgrade.
