Carisbrook Historic House - Monday 13th July 2026 - sold out
Carisbrook provides a real life glimpse of how Sydneysiders lived in the 1880s without the modern conveniences. Built from locally quarried sandstone, this house is a survivor of a time when land around the Lane Cove River was a world away from Sydney Town.
Today, Carisbrook remains the oldest surviving house in the area, its fabric largely intact. This wonderfully preserved house transports its visitors back to the foundation days of early Lane Cove with features that are characteristic of the Italianate style, a very fashionable architectural style of the Victorian period.
Following a guided tour, lead by a passionate volunteer from the Lane Cove Historical Society, you will have time to purchase lunch at Birkenhead Point before travelling back to the Central Coast.

Itinerary:*
7:15-8:15am - Home pick up service then depart Kariong at 8:30am after a comfort stop
9:45am - Arrive at Carisbrook Historic House, Lane Cove
10:00 - 10:30am - Morning tea at venue
10:30am - 12:00pm - Guided tour of venue (house & grounds) - You will be transported back to life as you would have lived it one hundred and forty years ago. The house is furnished as it would have been when the original owners, the Brooks family, moved into their new house.
12:15 - 2:15pm - Birkenhead Point (free time to purchase lunch & shop)
3:30pm - Arrive back at Kariong & begin home drop off service

Although this venue does have a few steps & the paths can be uneven in places, it is accessible with a walker.
